It comes as no surprise as current Premier League top scorer, Robin Van Persie, who is finishing up an amazing season, was awarded PFA Player of the Year award! Along side this prolific striker, a shock winner for Young Player of the Year award, Kyle Walker! The undoubtedly talented defender deserves the win for his great season for Tottenham and England, but it is rare to see a defender win an award such as this.
The Team of the Year was as follows:
- Joe Hart (Man City)
- Kyle Walker (Tottenham)
- Vincent Kompany (Man City)
- Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle)
- Leighton Baines (Everton)
- David Silva (Man City)
- Yaya Toure (Man City)
- Gareth Bale (Tottenham)
- Scott Parker (Tottenham)
- Robin Van Persie (Arsenal)
- Wayne Rooney (Man United)
Although an admirable team, I disagree in many categories. Particularly the fact that Evans and Valencia are not selected. Valencia is the epitome of consistency, and was debatably the greatest winger in the Premier League all season.
What did you guys think of the awards? Did Van Persie deserve it (Rooney is only 1 goal behind him with several games still to play)? Did Kyle Walker deserve it (he beat out Welbeck AND Aguero for the award)? Do you agree with the team of the year? Who should not be on it, and who should be there?
