So this is a much talked about topic, and I thought I'd throw in my thoughts on the matter.
I feel as long as the officials do not do anything about it, it will never leave the game. If a player can get his team the 3 points by just dropping to the ground, he will, it's not pretty, but it is the 3 points. Then, for those who do not dive, they lose out because they receive less penalties for trying to do the right thing.
That being said, I have come up with a way I feel can eliminate diving from the game. Here it is:
- At the start of each game, every club is given 2 chances to challenge a call.
- If a call is challenged, and it turns out the manager challenging a call is correct, then he gets to keep his call. If he was wrong, then he loses 1.
- If he runs out of calls, he cannot challenge calls anymore.
This will get rid of silly penalties from diving, and un-right red cards. Anything to limit the diving and unjust in football at the moment is needed. Bring back the Beautiful Game!
What do you guys think about diving? Do you agree with the idea suggested above?
